Macrobenthic

Our dedicated team of benthic taxonomists process thousands of macrobenthic samples annually for marine developers and regulatory bodies.

All marine and estuarine macrobenthic analysis is conducted in-house at our own specialist labs in the UK. This enables us to more carefully manage projects by providing highly-efficient sample processing and reduced lead times while maintaining the highest quality for our clients.

The data produced is stored in our purpose-built data management system ABACUS. This bespoke, cloud-based system is integrated with the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) with which it works in real time. This ensures our taxonomists have the most up to date and authoritative list of species available as they work.

Marine macrobenthic reference material

We have also built a substantial reference collection of specimens of all unique taxa identified in every project completed to date.

This collection of thousands of taxa is continually updated and provides an excellent resource to help our taxonomists work to the same standards.

Using this in conjunction with our extensive taxonomic keys and the highly-efficient sample tracking of ABACUS enables our taxonomists to process high sample volumes while maintaining the highest quality standards.
